Team

Hougei! - Welcome

2008 Team Robot's name is "JOE"
(Dedicated to Joe Sawyer)

Joe Sawyer

2008 Team motto is
"He Teethed on Wrenches"

The Mid coast School of Technology Robotics Team # 1276 “Kaizen Blitz*” is a partnership of area high school students (9th-12th grade), engineers, volunteers and parents from Mid-coast Maine along with the sponsorship and support of the MCST vocational school. This is the third year for Team #1276. The challenges and successes of the two previous years, have interested more students in becoming members of the team. Each year the team has grown from the original eleven, then to sixteen and now to twenty two students. Our team has discovered that robot building unfolds many learning opportunities and that the basic concepts of science, math, engineering and invention are exciting and interesting. Working with the mentors enriches “the build” experience further as students and adults share thoughts, ideas, things that work and things that don’t work. This is a life-changing, career-molding experience- plus a lot of fun!

 Work on the Robot                                 Brainstorming
The experience of FIRST Robotics has reinforced the decisions of three 2005 graduating team seniors to pursue college degrees in Engineering at WPI, Computer Science at the Rochester Institute, and Mechanical Engineering at University of Maine Orono. This year the 2006 graduating team seniors are pursuing degrees in Computer Science, Engineering and Computer / Electrical Engineering and Pharmaceuticals. FIRST has forever impacted the lives of the team and opened a door of opportunity for them to grow and excel on many levels: learning new skills while working side by side with diverse and experienced mentors, the excitement and skill challenges at the regional competition and in the future with their college and career paths.
